Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 1 September 2026
1. Our Commitment
PortraitDesk is committed to making our website usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. We are actively working to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA — the standard referenced by the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and EN 301 549.
2. Conformance Status
This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not yet fully meet every criterion. This is an honest, ongoing self-assessment rather than a certification from an accredited third party.
Improvements completed as part of our most recent accessibility review include:
- Raised text colour contrast ratios across the site, including footer navigation links, column headings, and body copy in dark sections, to meet the required 4.5:1 minimum against their backgrounds
- Added "skip to main content" links on every page so keyboard and screen-reader users can bypass repeated navigation
- Marked all decorative images and icon SVGs with
aria-hidden="true"so they are not announced by screen readers - Added
aria-labelandaria-labelledbyattributes to all landmark sections and navigation regions across every page - Verified form labels, heading structure, and keyboard operability across all public-facing pages
- Decorative eyebrow labels and supplementary stack notes marked
aria-hidden— the content they accompany is fully readable through the heading and body text
3. Known Limitations
We test primarily using automated browser tooling and keyboard navigation. We have not yet conducted full testing with real assistive technology such as NVDA, JAWS, or VoiceOver on all pages, so we do not consider that part of our review complete. We are continuing to test further areas and prioritising fixes based on real user impact.
Third-party embeds — including Stripe payment forms — are outside our direct control. We choose reputable providers and encourage them to meet accessibility standards, but cannot guarantee their content meets the same conformance level as the pages we build ourselves.
4. Feedback and Contact
If you encounter an accessibility barrier anywhere on this site, we want to know. Please tell us:
- The page or feature where you ran into a problem
- A description of the issue you experienced
- The device, browser, and any assistive technology you were using, if relevant
You can reach us at info@portraitdesk.com. We aim to respond within five working days and treat genuine accessibility barriers as a priority.
5. Enforcement
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to raise the matter with the accessibility enforcement body in your country. The European Accessibility Act is enforced at the national level by each EU member state.
6. Scope
This statement covers portraitdesk.com. It does not cover the internal websites of third-party services we link to, or content uploaded by third parties.
